This is the dinnerware we had when I was a child. I'm almost positive that it was a promotional set that you collected each week at Safeway. (I could be wrong. I should ask my mom.)
It's the MANITOU pattern from Grindley of Staffordshire, England.
Seeing it in a thrift store for the first time rocked me back to my childhood. When I was 5 and had Mono, there was a place setting just for me...each piece was marked with masking tape. I remember the mug handle had remnants of the masking tape long after my recovery.
I used to pick up random pieces if I found them for under $1. Then one day I found an entire set of dishes! That's when I realized it wasn't as rare as I'd first thought. Still fun to see though. I don't plan on collecting a whole set, but the coffee pot and cream & sugar and gravy boat would be fun to have.
